Golf apparel can be expensive, really expensive. If you go to your local golf store you will find racks of polos, shorts and pants for $75 or more. Sites like Trendy Golf or Fairway Styles offer premier clothing brands with many items at or above $100. Golf is expensive enough, you don't need to shell out hundreds of dollars just to have clothes to wear to the course. So here are some good places to find reasonably priced clothes, including lots of premium brands.
Rock Bottom Golf
As the name implies, RBG focuses on great deals for everything golf. There are always great deals to be found on brands such as Puma, Adidas, Greg Norman, Callaway and many more. The inventory is consistently changing as they bring in closeout and prior season styles. So good chance something you see today could be gone next week, especially if it is a well known brand. But if brand recognition is not of importance, they have a steady selection of items from Etonic & John Daly brands at very low prices.
Global Golf is similar to Rock Bottom Golf in that they offer many brands and styles at a discount. But Global Golf sticks more to well known brands like Greg Norman, Oakley, Adidas, etc. So the prices are slightly higher but you can find many products in the $20 - $35 range. Also they have their own brand called Tourney Apparel that is always well priced as is a pretty good product.
As you would expect with Amazon, the amount of golf apparel products is endless. From Nike to FootJoy to small brands you never heard of. With the willingness to spend some time searching you can find good deals. Sometimes that is a specific size or color of a product that is at a reduced price. For example this Nike Dry Victory polo cost $55 in most colors, but the "Blue Void" color is only $30.61 and is available for Prime shipping.
GolfEtail also focuses on discount golf products, and you usually won't find any full priced apparel items here. Their selection is usually more limited than some of those other sites but also their prices are super low. Currently brands such as Adidas, Atlas, Colombia, Greg Norman & Sketchers have polos available for under $25.
TJ Maxx is a great place to find great prices on all sorts of apparel and other items, and this includes golf. Recently I purchased Dunning shorts and a Nike Dri Fit polo with a college's logo on it for a total of $37. With lots of other product options from Callaway, Greg Norman and other brands. The inventory changes frequently so what you see today may be totally different next month. A great option if you don't like buying clothes online.
The big box stores offer surprisingly decent golf apparel options at low prices. Target has C9 and Jack Nicklaus brands. Wal-Mart has Ben Hogan. Kohls has Grand Slam, FILA and IZOD at lower price points. Then also Nike, Under Armor and Adidas at decent prices. And again you can try on before you buy.
For many golfers across the Des Moines metro and beyond, it is hard to justify a golf membership. For some it is the cost and others it is not having enough time to golf as much as you need to make the membership worth it. But as golf courses look to evolve to keep rounds played up, new types of memberships at public courses are showing up at greatly reduced cost to entice golfers to call that course home.
