Des Moines Golf Expo

A new event in town will help Des Moines golfers fight the winter golf blues.  The Des Moines Golf Expo will be taking over the Iowa Events Center January 4-6 as Central Iowa golfers will descend to downtown Des Moines for some golf shopping, golf trip planning, golf lessons and just good fun.  To get a better idea on what to expect at the Des Moines Golf Expo, we decided to talk to those involved with the event to learn more.

Golf DSM: For someone that has never been to a golf expo/show, what can they expect when they come to the Iowa Event Center in eGolf DSM: For someone that has never been to a golf expo/show, what can they expect when they come to the Iowa Event Center in early January. 
Golf Expo: Attendees can expect anything and everything golf. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, younger or older, this event is for you. We’ll have a 19th hole lounge, ways to work on your game, the latest and greatest equipment, major golf manufacturers to shop from, a kids zone, and much more. We’ll also have many courses highlighting some of the great places to golf around the Midwest.

Golf DSM: On Friday is VIP night, are there extra perks that come with attending the Golf Expo that night compared to on the weekend?
Golf Expo: The VIP night is all about giving the attendee an experience that hasn’t been offered for years. You’ll get one on one time with golf pros, a swag bag filled with goodies, a chance to talk to course owners, and time to network with many people involved in the golf community. 

Golf DSM: The Vendor list already has a great selection of golf courses and companies. Have vendors expressed excitement for an event like this coming to the Des Moines metro?
Golf Expo: The response has been tremendous. The problem is there’s been a lack of any golf events in the Des Moines area like the Des Moines Golf Expo for almost a decade, so Des Moines has been hungry for an event like this. Our vendors and sponsors know how important an event like the Des Moines Golf Expo is, so they’ve all been very excited to be involved.

Golf DSM: Each Thursday you have been having putting events in the skyway of downtown Des Moines. Can you tell us why people should come stop by and where they can find you at? 
Golf Expo: Yes! We call it Tee Off Thursday and we’re at a new location every Thursday inside the Des Moines skywalks. With the partnerships we have with our sponsors, we give away a lot of awesome prizes to the people who can make their putt. It’s a great way to get your mind off work, have some fun, and win something in the process. We love seeing people walk away with something even if they don’t make the putt, so we never let anyone walk away empty handed!
